*ये कहानी नहीं बिल्कुल सच्ची घटना है। वृंदावन में अभी भी ठाकुर जी नित्य कोई न कोई लीला करते रहते हैं।
*आज से लगभग 85 साल पहले की यह घटना है। वृंदावन से लगभग 50 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर एक स्थान है जिसका नाम अलीगढ़ है। अलीगढ़ के रहने वाले एक अध्यापक जिनका नाम गोवर्धन दास था, बच्चों को शिक्षा प्रदान किया करते थे, परंतु उस शिक्षा का वो कोई मोल नहीं लेते थे।
*मुफ्त में शिक्षा देने को वो अपना धर्म समझते थे। समय बीतता गया और उनकी बेटी विवाह के योग्य हो गई। वो एक मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार के थे तो उन्हें बेटी के विवाह के लिए धन की आवश्यकता पड़ी।
*जिन बच्चों को पढ़ाकर उन्होंने डॉक्टर, वकील आदि बनाया था उनके आगे ये प्रस्ताव रखा कि मैंने तुम्हें पढ़ाकर बनाया है, अब तुम मेरी बेटी की शादी में मेरा सहयोग करो।
*उस समय सबने हाथ खड़े कर दिए।अब गोवर्धन दास उसी नगर के एक साहूकार जिसका नाम लक्ष्मीचंद्र था उसके पास पहुंचे और उन्होंने उससे कहा कि सेठ मुझे अपनी बेटी का विवाह करना है ,उसके लिए तुम मुझे कुछ पैसे दे दो मैं कुछ दिनों में उसे चुका दूंगा।
*लक्ष्मीचंद्र ने गोवर्धन दास को बेटी के विवाह के लिए पैसे दिए, उस पैसे से उन्होंने अपनी बेटी का विवाह खूब धूम धाम से किया और बेटी को विदा किया।उनके यहां का ये विधान था कि बेटी के विवाह के बाद गंगा स्नान करने जाते हैं।
*बेटी की विदाई के बाद उन्होंने अपनी पत्नी से कहा कि अब हमें गंगा स्नान के लिए जाना चाहिए, उसपर उनकी पत्नी ने कहा कि कैसा गंगा स्नान अभी सर पर जो कर्ज है वो चूक जाए तो गंगा स्नान करेंगे।
*अब वो ट्यूशन पढ़ा कर पैसे जमा करने लगे और तीन वर्षों में ट्यूशन के पैसे से लक्ष्मीचंद्र का एक एक पाई चुका दिया। सेठ लक्ष्मीचंद्र ने अपने बही खाते में लिखा कि गोवर्धन दास जी अब आपने मेरा एक एक पाई चुका दिया, अब आपका और मेरा कोई लेन देन नहीं है। उसने लिखकर गोवर्धन दास को ये दिखा दिया।
*अब गोवर्धन दास अपनी पत्नी के साथ गंगा स्नान करने चले गए। गंगा स्नान करके जब वो वापस आए तो उन्हें पता चला कि सेठ लक्ष्मीचंद्र ने उनके उपर मुकदमा कर दिया है और मुकदमा इस बात की है कि अपनी बेटी के विवाह में गोवर्धन दास जी ने सेठ से जो पैसे लिए थे वो अभी तक लौटाई नहीं है।
*तब गोवर्धन दास सेठ लक्ष्मीचंद्र के पास गए और उन्होंने उससे कहा कि मैंने तो तुम्हारी पाई पाई चुका दी थी और तूने उसे फाइल में लिखा भी था, तब उसने उन्हें दूसरी फाइल दिखा दी कि गोवर्धन दास ने मुझसे पैसे लिए हैं और उसके बाद कुछ भी नहीं लिखा था।
*ये देखकर गोवर्धन दास बहुत आश्चर्य में पड़ गए , सोचने लगे कि अब क्या करूं। ये मुकदमा जब कोर्ट में पहुंचा तो लक्ष्मीचंद्र कहने लगा इन्होंने मेरे एक पैसे नहीं चुकाए, गोवर्धन दास जी कहने लगे कि मैंने तो इनका एक एक पैसा चुकाया है।
*जज साहब कहने लगे कि जिस समय तुमने इनका पैसा चुकाया था उस समय कोई गवाह था क्या जो यह कह सके कि तुमने इनकी एक एक पाई चुकाई है। गोवर्धन दास जी सबको हमेशा यही शिक्षा देते थे कि चाहे तुम्हें कोई देखे या न देखे ईश्वर हमेशा तुम्हें देख रहा है, तो उन्हें ये खयाल आया कि चाहे कोई मेरी गवाही दे या न दे बांके बिहारी जी जिनको मैं बहुत मानता हूं, उन्होंने ये जरूर देखा होगा।
*अब उन्होंने कह दिया कि जज साहब और किसी की मैं क्या कहूं ,मेरे बांके बिहारी जी ने ये जरूर देखा है कि मैंने इनकी एक एक पाई इन्हें चुका दी है। जज साहब कहने लगे कि कौन बांके बिहारी, ये कहां रहते हैं,तो गोवर्धन दास ने कहा वृंदावन में रहते हैं।
*जज साहब ने बांके बिहारी के नाम से सम्मन निकाला। गोवर्धन दास बांके बिहारी जी के द्वार पर जाकर फूट फूट कर रोने लगे और कहने लगे कि मैंने तो आपका नाम दे दिया है, अब आगे आपको ही मेरी लाज बचानी है। आप यदि गवाही देने नहीं आओगे तो आपके भक्त की लाज चली जाएगी, और वो खूब रो रो कर अपने घर चले गए।
*डाकिया जब जज का सम्मन लेकर आया तो ठाकुर जी ने स्वयं छोटे बालक का रूप धारण कर उस सम्मन को ले लिया। जिस तारीक पर उन्हें कोर्ट में जाना था वे सभी कोर्ट में पहुंचे थे। लक्ष्मीचंद्र तो ये जानता था कि गोवर्धन दास किस बांके बिहारी की बात कर रहे हैं, लेकिन वहां बैठे हुए लोगों को ये लग रहा था कि बांके बिहारी कोई व्यक्ति है, जज को भी यही लग रहा था कि बांके बिहारी कोई व्यक्ति है।
*जज साहब आवाज देने लगे कि बांके बिहारी हाजिर हो तो कोई हाजिर नहीं हुआ समय निकल गया और जैसे ही जज ने अपना कलम उठाया तो उसी समय एक वृद्ध का भेष बनाकर श्री बांके बिहारी कोर्ट में पहुंचे और कहा कि मैं हूं बांके बिहारी।
*कटघरे में खड़े हुए और ठाकुर जी ने कहा कि मैंने अपनी आंखों से देखा कि गोवर्धन दास ने लक्ष्मीचंद्र की एक एक पाई चुकाई है । आप भी उस बात को देख सकते हैं, जहां लक्ष्मीचंद्र बैठता है उसके पीछे जो आलमारी है और उसमें जो पीले रंग की बही खाता है उसमें स्पष्ट लिखा हुआ है कि गोवर्धन दास ने जो पुत्री के विवाह में मेरे से पैसे लिए थे वो पाई पाई मुझे चुका दिए हैं।
*जज साहब ने कुछ सिपाही को लक्ष्मीचंद्र के दुकान पर भेजा और उस पीले रंग के बही खाते को लेकर आने का आदेश दिया। सिपाही गए और उन्होंने वो फाइल लाकर जज साहब को दे दिया। जज साहब ने उस बही खाते को खोली और उसमें गोवर्धन दास निर्दोष पाए गए। उन्हें छोड़ दिया गया और लक्ष्मीचंद्र को सजा सुनाई गई।
*सभी वहां पर खुशियां मना रहे थे और जज साहब एक टक उस वृद्ध पुरुष को देख रहे थे , वो वृद्ध पुरुष अचानक से वहां से अंतर्ध्यान हो गए। जज साहब सोचने लगे कि ये कौन था जो अचानक यहां से गायब हो गया।
*जज साहब ने गोवर्धन दास को बुलाया और उनसे पूछने लगे कि सच सच बताओ कि क्या तुमने इससे पहले भी कभी बांके बिहारी को देखा था, उन्होंने कहा कि मैंने इससे पहले कभी भी बांके बिहारी जी को नहीं देखा था। जज साहब कहने लगे कि तो फिर तुमने किसके नाम का सम्मन निकलवाया था
*गोवर्धन दास कहने लगे कि वृंदावन में जो बांके बिहारी जी हैं उन्हीं के नाम का सम्मन मैने निकलवाया था। जज साहब मन ही मन बहुत उदास हो गए और जब अपने घर पहुंचे तो देखा कि उनकी पत्नी श्री बांके बिहारी जी की पूजन में लगी हुई थी, ठाकुर जी की एक तस्वीर की पूजन कर रही थी। जज साहब ने पत्नी से पूछा कि ये कौन हैं तो पत्नी ने कहा कि ये बांके बिहारी जी हैं।
*जज साहब फूट फूट कर रोने लगे और सोचने लगे कि जिनका पूजन मेरी पत्नी करती है वो बांके बिहारी आज मेरे सामने खड़े थे, जब घरवालों ने उनके रोने की वजह पूछी तो उन्होंने अपनी पत्नी से कहा कि जिन्हें तू पूज रही है वो आज मेरे सामने खड़े थे, वो एक भक्त की गवाही देने मेरे कोर्ट में आए थे।
*पत्नी ने उनसे पूछा कि क्या तुम इसलिए रो रहे हो कि वो तुम्हारे सामने आए और चले गए, उन्होंने कहा कि नहीं मैं इसलिए नहीं रो रहा हूं कि वो मेरे सामने आए और चले गए। मैं रो तो इसलिए रहा हूं कि वो साक्षात मेरे जीवन का उद्धार करने मेरे सामने आए थे और मैं मूर्ख जज बनकर कुर्सी पर ही बैठा रहा और वो मेरे सामने कठघरे में खड़े होकर मुझे समझा रहे थे।
*आज जब उन्होंने इतनी कृपा मुझ पर की है ,वो मेरे कठघरे में आकर खड़े हुए हैं, जाना तो मुझे उनके कठघरे में चाहिए था, तो आज से ही मैं इस कार्य को छोड़ता हूं। उसने उसी समय उस पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया और वृंदावन आकर बांके बिहारी जी के कठघड़े में जाकर खड़े हो गए और बिहारी जी से कहा कि अब आप न्याय करो की मैं दोषी हूं कि नहीं हूं।
*वृंदावन में आज भी वो जज बाबा के नाम से प्रचलित हैं।

He considered giving education for free as his religion. Time passed and their daughter became eligible for marriage. He belonged to a middle class family, so he needed money for the marriage of his daughter.
* * the children whom he taught and made doctors, lawyers etc., proposed to him that I have made you by teaching, now you help me in the marriage of my daughter.
* At that time everyone raised their hands. Now Govardhan Das reached to him a moneylender named Lakshmichandra of the same city and he told him that Seth, I have to marry my daughter, for that you give me some money, I will in a few days I will pay him
* Laxmichandra gave money to Govardhan Das for the daughter's marriage, with that money he married his daughter with great pomp and sent the daughter away. It was his law that after the daughter's marriage, the Ganges goes to bathe. .
After the farewell of the daughter, he told his wife that now we should go for a bath in the Ganges, on which his wife said that if the debt on the head is missed, then he will take a bath in the Ganges.
Now he started accumulating money by teaching tuitions and in three years paid every penny of Laxmichandra with tuition money. Seth Laxmichandra wrote in his book that Govardhan Das ji, now you have paid me every single penny, now you and I have no transaction. He wrote this and showed it to Govardhan Das.
Now Govardhan Das went to bathe in the Ganges with his wife. When he came back after taking a bath in the Ganges, he came to know that Seth Laxmichandra has sued him and the case is that Govardhan Das ji had not returned the money that he had taken from Seth in the marriage of his daughter.
Then Govardhan Das went to Seth Laxmichandra and he told him that I had paid your penny and you had written it in the file, then he showed him another file that Govardhan Das had taken money from me and after that some Didn't even write.
Seeing this, Govardhan Das was very surprised, started thinking what to do now. When this case reached the court, Laxmichandra started saying that he did not pay me a single penny, Govardhan Das ji started saying that I have paid him every single penny.
The judge started saying that at the time when you had paid their money, was there any witness who could say that you have paid every penny for them. Govardhan Das ji always used to teach everyone that whether anyone sees you or not, God is always watching you, so he got the idea that even if someone testifies to me or not, Banke Bihari ji whom I believe a lot, he must have done this. Would have seen
Now he has said that what should I say to the judge and anyone else, my Banke Bihari ji has definitely seen that I have paid every penny of them. The judge started saying that who Banke Bihari, where do they live, then Govardhan Das said that they live in Vrindavan.
* The judge took out the summons in the name of Banke Bihari. Govardhan Das went to Banke Bihari's door and started crying bitterly and said that I have given your name, now you have to save my shame. If you do not come to testify, then your devotee will be ashamed, and he went to his house crying a lot.
When the postman brought the judge's summons, Thakur ji himself took the summon by taking the form of a small child. The date on which they had to go to the court, they all reached the court. Lakshmichandra knew which Banke Bihari Govardhan Das was talking about, but the people sitting there felt that Banke Bihari was a person, the judge also felt that Banke Bihari was a person.
The judge started giving voice that if Banke Bihari is present, then no one has appeared and as soon as the judge raised his pen, at the same time, disguised as an old man, Shri Banke Bihari reached the court and said that I am Banke Bihari.
* * stood in the dock and Thakur ji said that I saw with my own eyes that Govardhan Das has paid every penny of Lakshmichandra. You can also see that, where Lakshmichandra sits, the cupboard behind him and the yellow ledger in it, it is clearly written in it that Govardhan Das who had taken money from me for the daughter's marriage, he found me. have paid.
* The judge sent some soldiers to Laxmichandra's shop and ordered to bring that yellow colored book account. The constable went and brought that file and gave it to the judge. The judge opened that ledger and found Govardhan Das innocent in it. He was released and Lakshmichandra was sentenced.
* Everyone was celebrating there and the judge was looking at that old man, the old man suddenly disappeared from there. The judge started thinking who was it that suddenly disappeared from here.
The judge called Govardhan Das and started asking him that tell the truth whether you had ever seen Banke Bihari before, he said that I had never seen Banke Bihari ji before. The judge started saying that then in whose name did you get the summons issued?
* Govardhan Das started saying that I had summoned the name of Banke Bihari ji who is in Vrindavan. The judge became very sad in his heart and when he reached his house, he saw that his wife was engaged in the worship of Shri Banke Bihari ji, worshiping a picture of Thakur ji. The judge asked the wife who he was, then the wife said that he is Banke Bihari ji.
The judge started crying bitterly and thinking that the one whom my wife worships, that Banke Bihari was standing in front of me today, when the family members asked the reason for their crying, they told their wife that the one whom you are worshiping is mine today. Standing in front, he had come to my court to testify a devotee.
The wife asked him whether you are crying because he came in front of you and left, he said that no, I am not crying because he came in front of me and left. I am crying because he had come in front of me to save my life and I was sitting on the chair as a foolish judge and he was standing in front of me in the courtroom and explaining to me.
Today, when he has bestowed so much grace on me, he has come and stood in my courtroom, knowing that I wanted to be in his courtroom, so from today I leave this work. He resigned from that post at the same time and came to Vrindavan and stood in the courtroom of Banke Bihari ji and told Bihari ji that now you do justice whether I am guilty or not.
Even today in Vrindavan he is popular as Judge Baba.
