Karman: Sukritsyahu: Satvikam Nirmalam Falam.
Rajasastu phalm dukhamgyanam tamsah phalam.
The fruit of virtuous deeds is pure, and is called satvik. But action performed in the mode of passion results in sorrow, and action performed in the mode of ignorance results in foolishness.
Purport: The fruits of pious deeds performed in the mode of goodness are pure, therefore those sages, who are free from all illusion, remain happy. But the deeds done in Rajogun become the cause of sorrow.
Whatever work is done for material happiness, it is sure to fail. For example, if someone wants to build a skyscraper, he has to suffer a lot before it is built.
The owner has to suffer to collect the money, and the workers who make the building have to do manual labor. Such troubles do happen.
Therefore the Bhagavad-gita states that whatever action is performed under the mode of passion, there is bound to be great suffering in it.
As far as Tamoguna is concerned, something to the doer. Knowledge does not remain, so all his actions are painful at that time, and later he has to go to animal life.
Animal life is always miserable, although they do not understand it being under the influence of maya. The slaughter of animals is also due to the mode of ignorance. Those who kill an animal do not know that in future this animal will get such a body through which it will kill them. This is the law of nature.
In human society, if someone kills a human being, he gets death penalty, this is the rule of the state. Out of ignorance people do not realize that there is a whole kingdom controlled by the Supreme Lord. Every living being is a child of the Lord, and the Lord cannot tolerate even an ant being killed.
For this man has to suffer punishment. Therefore, it is gross ignorance to indulge in animal slaughter for one's own taste. There is no need for human beings to kill animals, because God has provided us with many good things.
If someone eats meat for any reason, it should be understood that he is doing so out of ignorance, and is making his future dark. Cow slaughter is the worst of all types of animals, because cow gives us all kinds of happiness by giving milk.
There is also a prayer in the Vedic texts, which goes like this:
Namo Brahmanyadevay Gobramhanhitaya Ch.
Jagaddhitay Krishna Govinday Namo Namah.
Purport: O Lord, You are the well wisher of the cows and the brahmins, and You are the well wisher of the entire human society and the world. The meaning is that there is a special mention of the protection of cows and Brahmins in this prayer.
Brahmins are symbols of spiritual education and cows are important food, so both these living beings, Brahmins and cows, should be given full protection. This is the real progress of civilization. In modern human society, spiritual knowledge is neglected, and cow slaughter is encouraged. From this it is known that the human society is going in the opposite direction.
A civilization that guides its citizens to become animals in the next lives is certainly not a human civilization. Undoubtedly, the modern human civilization is going on the wrong path due to Rajogun and Tamogun.
This is the most dangerous age, and all nations should provide the simplest method of Krishna consciousness to save humanity from the greatest danger.
This verse of Bhagavad Gita teaches us that eating meat is a great sin, because every living being is the child of God, and if any human being kills any of their children and eats them, God will never tolerate this. Not there.
If any man kills any living being and eats it, he will also get the body of an animal in the next life, and the animal he killed and ate, he will kill and eat it. In this way, that man will have to take birth again and again in the form of an animal, and he will have to be tortured by many kinds of terrible pain.
Therefore we should never eat meat, and we should gradually advance ourselves in Krishna consciousness.
