Once Yudhishthir Maharaj asked Lord Shri Krishna, what is the name of Lord Jyestha Krishna Ekadashi, and what is its greatness, please tell me.
Then Lord Shri Krishna said that O Rajan, this Ekadashi is known by two names Apara and Achala. According to Puranas, the Ekadashi of Jyestha Krishna Paksha is Apara Ekadashi, because it is the Ekadashi that gives immense wealth.
The people who observe this fast become famous in the world. With the effect of fasting on Apara Ekadashi, all the sins of killing Brahma, ghost vagina, condemnation of others etc. are destroyed.
By observing this fast, all the sins of adultery, giving false testimony, telling lies, reading or making false scriptures, becoming a false astrologer, and becoming a false doctor etc. are destroyed.
Those Kshatriyas who run away from the war go to hell, but by observing the fast of Apara Ekadashi, they also get heaven. Those disciples who take education from the Guru, but condemn him, they definitely go to hell, but by observing Apara Ekadashi fast, they also get free from this sin.
The fruit that is obtained by bathing in Pushkar on Kartik Purnima, or by offering Pind Daan to ancestors on the banks of the Ganges, the same fruit is obtained by fasting on Apara Ekadashi.
The fruits obtained by bathing in Prayagraj, fasting on Shivratri, bathing in Gomti river in Jupiter of Leo sign, visiting Kedarnath in Kumbh, bathing in Kurukshetra during solar eclipse, donating gold or donating semi-fertile cows The same result is obtained by observing Apara Ekadashi fast.
This Ekadashi fast is like an ax to cut the tree of sin, fire to burn the fuel of sin, sun to dispel the darkness of sin, and lion to kill deer.
Therefore, a man must observe this fast fearing sins. By fasting on Apara Ekadashi and worshiping Lord Vishnu, a man gets rid of all sins and goes to Vishnu Lok.
Its story is something like this. In ancient times there was a pious king named Mahidhwaj. His younger brother Vajradhwaj was very cruel, unrighteous, and unjust. He used to hate his elder brother.
That sinner killed his elder brother one night and buried his body under a wild peepal tree. Due to this untimely death, that king started living on the same Peepal tree as a ghost, and started doing many kinds of mischief.
One day suddenly a sage named Dhaumya happened to pass by, he saw that ghost, and with his penance came to know his past. Then, with the power of his penance, he understood the reason for the mischief.
The sage was pleased and removed that ghost from the Peepal tree, and taught him the knowledge of the other world. Saints and Rishis are kind in nature, and because of their kind nature, the Rishi himself fasted on Apara Ekadashi to get rid of the evil spirits of the king, and to get rid of the ghosts, all the virtues of that Ekadashi fast were transferred to the ghost. Dedicated to
Due to the virtue of this fast, the king was freed from the ghostly vagina, and the king thanked that sage and wearing a divine body, went to heaven sitting in the Pushpak Vimana.
On the day of Ekadashi, we all should listen to the beautiful pastimes of the Lord, chant, and read Srimad Bhagavatam as much as possible. Hare Krishna Mahamantra should be chanted as much as possible on this day, at least sixteen or twenty five rounds should be done by everyone.
