* कहते हैं कि इन बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों के दर्शन मात्र से ही मनुष्य को मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है। यदि कोई व्यक्तिअगर मन से इनमें से केवल एक ज्योतिर्लिंग के दर्शन भी कर ले तो भी उसे उतना ही फल मिलता है जितना कि बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों के दर्शन करने से।* आईए जानते हैं कि वो बारह ज्योतिर्लिंग कौन कौन से हैं और कहां कहां पर स्थापित हैं।
1* सोमनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग : सोमनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग गुजरात के काठियावाड़ क्षेत्र में समुद्र के किनारे स्थित है।
2* मल्लिकार्जुन ज्योतिर्लिंग : यह ज्योतिर्लिंग आंध्र प्रदेश के करनूल जिले में कृष्णा नदी के तट पर स्थित है।
3* महाकालेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : यह मध्य प्रदेश के उज्जैन में क्षिप्रा नदी के तट पर स्थित महाकालेश्वर दक्षिणमुखी ज्योतिर्लिंग है।
4*ओंकारेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : ओंकारेश्वर मंदिर मध्य प्रदेश में नर्मदा के तट पर मान्धाता पर्वत पर स्थित है।
5* केदारनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग : केदारनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग उत्तराखंड के केदारनाथ धाम में अलकनंदा और मंदाकिनी नदी के तट पर स्थित है।
6* भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग : भीमाशंकर ज्योतिर्लिंग महाराष्ट्र के पुणे जिले में सहयाद्रि नामक पर्वत पर स्थित है। इस ज्योतिर्लिंग को मोटेश्वर महादेव के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
7* विश्वनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग : काशी विश्वनाथ मंदिर गंगा नदी के तट पर स्थित है। यह मंदिर उत्तर प्रदेश के वाराणसी शहर में स्थित है।
8* त्रयंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : त्रयंबकेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग महाराष्ट्र के नासिक जिले में स्थित है।
9* नागेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : नागेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग गुजरात में द्वारकापुरी से 17 मील दूर स्थित है।
10* वैद्यनाथ ज्योतिर्लिंग : बाबा वैद्यनाथ मंदिर झारखंड के देवघर जिले में स्थित है।
11* रामेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : रामेश्वर मंदिर तमिलनाडु के रामनाथम नामक स्थान में स्थित है।
12* घृष्णेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग : घृष्णेश्वर ज्योतिर्लिंग महाराष्ट्र के दौलताबाद से लगभग अठारह किलोमीटर दूर दूर स्थित है। इस स्थान को शिवालय भी कहा जाता है।
हिंदू धर्म में पुराणों के अनुसार शिव जी जहां जहां स्वयं प्रगट हुए उन बारह स्थानों पर स्थित शिवलिंगों को ज्योतिर्लिंग के रुप में पूजा जाता है।
ऐसा माना जाता है कि इन बारह ज्योतिर्लिंगों के दर्शन मात्र से ही सभी पापों का नाश हो जाता है।

2 * Mallikarjuna Jyotirlinga: This Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of Krishna River in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh.
3 * Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga: This is Mahakaleshwar Dakshinamukhi Jyotirlinga situated on the banks of river Kshipra in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh.
4 * Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga: The Omkareshwar Temple is situated on the Mandhata mountain on the banks of the Narmada in Madhya Pradesh.
5 * Kedarnath Jyotirlinga: Kedarnath Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers in the Kedarnath Dham of Uttarakhand.
6 * Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga: Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is located on a mountain named Sahyadri in Pune district of Maharashtra. This Jyotirlinga is also known as Moteshwar Mahadev.
7 * Vishwanath Jyotirlinga: Kashi Vishwanath Temple is situated on the banks of river Ganges. This temple is located in the city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.
8 * Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga: Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga is located in Nashik district of Maharashtra.
9 * Nageshwar Jyotirlinga: Nageshwar Jyotirlinga is located 17 miles away from Dwarkapuri in Gujarat.
10 * Vaidyanath Jyotirlinga: Baba Vaidyanath Temple is located in Deoghar district of Jharkhand.
11 * Rameshwar Jyotirlinga: Rameshwar Temple is located in a place called Ramanatham in Tamil Nadu.
12 * Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga: Ghrishneshwar Jyotirlinga is located about eighteen kilometers away from Daulatabad in Maharashtra. This place is also called Pagoda.
According to the Puranas in Hinduism, Shiva lingas are worshiped as Jyotirlinga situated at the twelve places where they themselves appeared.
It is believed that by the mere sight of these twelve Jyotirlingas, all sins are destroyed.
