बालक प्रह्लाद माता के गर्भ से ही भगवान विष्णु के बहुत बड़े भक्त थे। बहुत समय की बात है हिरण्याक्ष और हिरण्यकशिपु नामक दो दैत्य थे जिन्होंने धरती से लेकर आकाश तक चारों तरफ़ अपनाआतंक फैला कर रखा था। साधू संतो पर वो आए दिन हमेशा अत्याचार करता रहता था। उसके अत्याचार से साधू संत बहुत ही परेशान रहने लगे। साधुओं ने भगवान से प्रार्थना की कि वो दानव राज़ हिरण्याक्ष से उनकी रक्षा करें। हिरण्याक्ष का अत्याचार साधुओं के ऊपर दिन पर दिन बढ़ता जा रहा था, तब भगवान विष्णु ने धरती पर आकर उसका वध कर दिया।
अपने बड़े भाई हिरण्याक्ष का वध भगवान विष्णु के हाथों होने कारण हिरण्यकशिपु विष्णु भगवान को अपना सबसे बड़ा शत्रु मानने लगा। उसके सामने अगर कोई भी विष्णु का नाम ले लेता तो वो उसे मृत्यु दंड देता था। दैत्य गुरु शुक्लाचार्य के परामर्श से वो भगवान विष्णु से अपने भाई के मौत का बदला लेने के लिए ब्रम्हा जी की घोर तपस्या करने जंगल चला गया। इधर उसकी पत्नी कयाधु गर्भवती थी।
भगवान इंद्र ने सोचा कि अभी हिरण्यकशिपु अपनी तपस्या में लीन है तो क्यों न मौके का फ़ायदा उठाया जाय और उसकी पत्नी के गर्भ में जो बालक पल रहा है उसे गर्भ में ही मार डाला जाय। इंद्र ने अपने दूत को भेजकर गर्भ में पल रहे शिशु पर बाण चलवाया लेकिन भगवान विष्णु ने आकर उस बालक को बाण के प्रहार से बचा लिया। फ़िर इंद्रदेव ने स्वयं आकर देबी कयाधु का हरण कर लिया और उन्हें बलपूर्वक घसीटते हुए देवलोक लिये जा रहे थे, कि अचानक नारद जी वहां प्रकट हुए और उन्होंने इंद्रदेव से कहा कि आप देवता होकर इतना बड़ा पाप कर रहे हैं ।किसी पराई स्त्री का हरण करना तो घोर अपराध है। कृप्या आप इन्हें छोड़ दें।
नारद जी की बात को सुनकर इंद्रदेव को अपने किए पर पश्चाताप हुआ और उन्होंने देवी कयाधु को मुक्त कर दिया। फ़िर नारदजी ने कहा कि आप थोड़ी देर चलकर मेरी कुटिया में विश्राम कर लें देवी। माता कयाधु को नारद जी की कुटिया में बहुत ही अच्छा महशुश हो रहा था। नारद जी हर क्षण नारायण का जाप करते इसका असर माता के गर्भ में पल रहे शिशु पर भी पड़ने लगा। बालक माता के गर्भ से ही नारायण मंत्र का जाप करने लगा। उधर हिरण्यकशिपु की कठिन तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर ब्रम्हा जी प्रकट हुए और उन्होंने उससे मनचाहा वरदान मांगने को कहा।
हिरण्यकशिपु ने वरदान में मांगा कि ना मै दिन में मरूं ना रात में, ना मै धरती पर मरूं ना आकाश में, ना मै देवताओं के हाथों मरूं ना दानवों के, ना मै किसी अस्त्र से मरूं ना शस्त्र से इसपर ब्रम्हा जी ने कहा तथास्तु । ब्रम्हा जी के इस वरदान को पाकर वो बहुत अहंकारी हो गया। तपस्या से लौटते ही उसे जैसे ही पता चला कि इंद्र ने उसकी पत्नी का हरण कर लिया है उसने उसी समय इंद्रलोक पर हमला कर दिया और इंद्र से उनका इंद्रलोक जीतकर उसपर अपना आधिपत्य स्थापित कर लिया।
उसने सभी देवताओं को कारागार में बंद कर दिया।जब वो अपनी पत्नी कयाधु से मिलने नारद जी के पास पहुंचा तो उसने देखा उसकी पत्नी नारद जी के कुटिया में बहुत अच्छा महशूष कर रही है, और कयाधु ने हिरण्यकशिपु से अपनी इक्षा जाहिर करते हुए कहा कि मैं बालक के जन्म होने तक नारद जी की कुटिया में रहना चाहती हूं। मेरे मन को यहां बहुत शुकून और शांती मिल रही है। हिरण्यकशिपु मान गया उसने कहा ठीक है आप बालक के जन्म होने तक यहीं ठहर जाएं और वह वापस लौट गया।
समय बीतता गया और कयाधू ने एक पूत्र को जन्म दिया। उस बालक के ललाट से दिव्य प्रकाश निकल रहा था। माता कयाधू ने देवर्षि नारदजी से अपने पूत्र के नामकरण करने को कहा तो देवर्षि ने उसका नाम प्रह्लाद रखा। कयाधू अपने पूत्र को लेकर अपने पति के साथ अपने घर को लौट आई। हिरण्यकशिपु अपने पुत्र को पाकर बहुत प्रसन्न था।जब प्रह्लाद पाँच वर्ष का हो गया तो उसने सोचा कि अब इसे शिक्षा उपार्जन के लिए गुरुकुल भेज देना चाहिए।
उसने दैत्यों के गुरुकुल में अध्ययन करने के लिए बालक को भेज दिया। वहां पहुंचकर प्रह्लाद ने देखा कि गुरुकुल में भगवान की मूर्ती की जगह उसके पिता की मूर्ती की सभी भगवान मानकर पूजा कर रहे हैं। उसे बड़ा ही आश्चर्य हो रहा था कि ये लोग मेरे पिता को भगवान क्यों समझ रहे हैं, उसने गुरुकुल में उपस्थित सभी विद्यार्थियों से कहा कि आप लोग इतना भी नहीं जानते कि ये मेरे पिता हैं जिनको आपलोग भगवान मानकर पूजा कर रहे हैं।
सत्य तो यह है कि ये कोई भगवान नहीं, भगवान तो सिर्फ़ विष्णु हैं। वो ही सबके पालनहार हैं।
अतः मै इन्हें भगवान नहीं मानता। गुरुओं द्वारा लाख समझाने पर भी उसने इस बात को मानने से साफ़ इनकार कर दिया कि उसके पिता भगवान हैं। हिरण्यकशिपु को जैसे ही इस बात का पता चला वो गुस्से से आग बबूला हो उठा। उसने बालक को मृत्यु दंड देने का फ़ैसला किया लेकिन कयाधू के बहुत रोने बिलखने पर अपने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया कि वो उसे घने जंगल में भूखा प्यासा तरपने को छोड़ दे।
लेकिन उस बालक को जंगल में भी आनन्द ही महसूस हो रहा था। एक वृक्ष के नीचे बैठकर वह ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय नाम का जप कर रहा था। उसके चेहरे पर ना ही कोई भय और ना किसी तरह का तनाव दिख रहा था। उसके पिता ने जब देखा कि ये तो इस घने जंगल में भी सुरक्षित है तो उसने अपने सैनिकों को आदेश दिया कि अब वो उसे पहाड़ से नीचे फेंक दें।
सैनिकों ने जैसे ही पहाड़ से बालक को फेंका तो भगवान विष्णु ने स्वयं वहां आकर उसे अपनी गोद में उठा लिया और फ़िर से प्रह्लाद जीवित बच गया। अब उसने अपनी बहन होलिका को अपनी सहायता के लिए बुलाया। होलिका को अग्नि देव का वरदान मिला हुआ था कि अग्नि उसको कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुंचा सकता है। हिरण्यकशिपु ने अपनी बहन से कहा कि तुम प्रह्लाद को अग्नि में लेकर बैठ जाओ क्योंकि अग्नि तुम्हें तो जला नहीं सकती और प्रह्लाद अग्नि में जलकर भस्म हो जाएगा।
होलिका प्रह्लाद को लेकर अग्नि में बैठ गई और वो नन्हा बालक उस धधकती अग्नि में भी बैठकर ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय नमः का जाप करने लगा , उसकी भक्ति में इतनी शक्ति थी कि उसकी भक्ति के ताप से होलिका अग्नि में जलकर खाक हो गई और नन्हा प्रह्लाद पुनः बच गया। हिरण्यकशिपु को अपनी बहन के मौत पर बहुत गुस्सा आ रहा था उसने फिर से प्रह्लाद को मारने के लिए एक प्लान बनाया। इस बार उसने एक खंभे के अंदर अग्नि प्रज्वलित कर उसे पूरा लाल कर दिया और फिर प्रह्लाद को बुलाकर कहा दिखा इस खंभे से लिपटकर बुला अपने विष्णु को मै भी देखता हूं इस बार तू मौत से कैसे बचता है। प्रह्लाद उस अग्नि से लाल हुए खंभे से जैसे ही लिपटता है वह खंभा उसे बिल्कुल
शीतल ठंडा प्रतीत होता है और वो उससे लिपटकर फिर से वही ॐ नमो भगवते वासुदेवाय नमः का जाप करने लगता है। यह देखकर हिरण्यकशिपु को बहुत क्रोध आता है और वह तलवार से उसका वध करने के लिए जैसे ही आगे बढ़ता है तो उस खंभे को फाड़कर भगवान विष्णु का नरसिंह अवतार प्रकट होते हैं। और फ़िर उस पापी हिरण्यकशिपु को अपने गोद में लेकर उसके पेट को अपने नाखून से फाड़कर उसका वध कर देते हैं।
इस तरह से उस दुष्ट की भगवान के हाथों मृत्यु हो जाती है। क्रोध से भगवान नरसिंह अभी भी कांप रहे थे और सबको मारने के लिए आगे बढ़ने लगे, माता लक्ष्मी के लाख विनती करने पर भी उनका क्रोध शांत नहीं हुआ। माता लक्ष्मी ने प्रह्लाद से कहा अब तुम ही इनके क्रोध को शांत कर सकते हो पुत्र अगर जल्द ही इनका क्रोध नहीं शांत करवाया गया तो पूरे श्रृष्टि का विनाश हो जाएगा।
तब प्रह्लाद भगवान के आगे नतमस्तक होकर विनती करने लगा कि आप अपने सुंदर रूप में वापस लौट आईए मुझे आपको इस रूप में देखकर बहुत डर लग रहा है। अपने नन्हे भक्त की पुकार सुनकर भगवान अपने सुंदर रूप में लौट आए और उन्होंने प्रह्लाद को अपने गले से लगा लिया। प्रह्लाद बड़ा होकर बहुत ही चरित्रवान और प्रतिभावान राजा बना।
उसके सन्यास लेने के उपरांत उसका पूत्र विरोचन भी बहुत ही अच्छा और प्रतिभावान राजा बना। इंद्र के द्वारा छल से मारे जाने के बाद वीरोचन का पुत्र बली भी बहुत ही चरित्रवान राजा हुए। जब भी कोई दानी की बात आती है तो राजा बली को सबसे बड़ा दानी कहा जाता है।
एक बार जब भगवान विष्णु ने बटुक रूप धारण करके राजा बली से तीन पग भूमि का दान मांगा तो वो यह जानते हुए भी कि ये भगवान विष्णु हैं उन्होंने दान देने में थोड़ा भी संकोच नहीं किया और उन्हें तीन पग भूमि का दान दे दिया। फ़िर भगवान ने एक पग में सारी भूमि और पाताल लोक और दूसरे पग से पूरा ब्रह्माण्ड को नाप लिया। उन्होंने बाली से कहा की दो पग में तो मैंने पूरे धरती और आकाश पाताल सबकुछ नाप लिया और अब तीसरे पग के लिए तो कुछ बचा ही नहीं अतः तुम्हारा वचन झूठा हुआ।
बली ने कहा मेरा वचन झूठा नहीं होगा प्रभु और उसने उनके तीसरे पग को अपने मस्तक पर रखने को कहा। भगवान ने तीसरा पग उसके मस्तक पर रख दिया। उन्होंने प्रसन्न होकर बली का साम्राज्य उसे वापस लौटा दिया। इस कहानी से हमें यही सीख मिलती है कि कभी किसी निर्दोष को मत सताओ, हमेशा सच्चाई और अच्छाई के मार्ग पर चलते रहो । चाहे सुख हो या दुख हो हर क्षण भगवान से जुड़े रहो क्योंकि तुम अगर हर क्षण भगवान से जुड़े रहोगे तो भगवान भी हमेशा अपने भक्तों के साथ रहकर सदैव उनकी रक्षा करते हैं।

The child was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu right from the time when he was inside the womb of his Mother. It is a matter of long time that there were two demons named Hiranyaksha and Hiranyakashipu who spread their fire from the earth to the sky. He used to persecute sage saints for days to come. Due to his atrocities, the saint saints started being very upset. The sadhus prayed to God to protect them from the demon Raaz Hiranyaksha. The tyranny of Hiranyaksha was increasing day by day over the sadhus, then Lord Vishnu came to the earth and killed him.
Due to the slaughter of his elder brother Hiranyaksha at the hands of Lord Vishnu, Hiranyakashipu started considering Vishnu as his biggest enemy. If anyone took Vishnu's name in front of him, he would punish him. In consultation with the demon Guru Shuklacharya, he went to the forest to avenge the death of his brother from Lord Vishnu to austerity of Bramha Ji.
Here his wife Kayadhu was pregnant. Lord Indra thought that Hiranyakashipu is still absorbed in his penance, so why not take advantage of the opportunity and kill the child who is in the womb of his wife in the womb itself. Indra sent his emissary to shoot an arrow at the baby growing in the womb, but Lord Vishnu came and saved the child from the arrow. Then Indradev himself came and killed Debi Kayadhu and while dragging him forcefully, Devlok was being taken, suddenly Narada appeared there and told Indradev that you are committing such a great sin as a deity.
To do is a crime. Please leave them. Hearing Narada's words, Indradev repented on his own and freed the goddess Kayadhu. Then Naradji said that after a while you can rest in my hut, Goddess. Mata Kayadhu was feeling very good in Narad ji's hut. Narada Ji used to chant Narayana every moment, this also had an impact on the baby growing in the mother's womb.
From the womb of the child mother started chanting Narayana mantra. On the other hand, pleased with the hard penance of Hiranyakashipu, Bramha appeared and asked him to ask for the boon he wanted. Hiranyakashipu asked in a boon that neither should I die in the day nor in the night, nor should I die on the earth nor in the sky, nor should I die at the hands of the gods, nor should I die with any weapon or with arms.
He got very arrogant after getting this boon of Brahma ji. As soon as he came back from penance, he came to know that Indra had killed his wife, he attacked Inderlok at the same time and won his Inderlok from Indra and established his suzerainty over him and he locked all the gods in prison. When he came to Narada ji to meet his wife Kayadhu, he saw that his wife is doing a very good show in Narada ji's hut, and Kayadhu expressed his desire to Hiranyakashipu and said that till the birth of the child, Narad ji I want to live in a hut. My mind is getting a lot of peace and peace here. Hiranyakashipu agreed that he said okay you stay here till the child is born and he goes back. Time passed and Kayadhu gave birth to a son. Divine light was coming out of the forehead of that child. Mother Kayadhu asked Devarshi Naradji to name her son, then Devarshi named her Prahlad. Kayadhu returned to her home with her husband with her son.
Hiranyakashipu was very happy to find his son. When Prahlada became five years old, he thought that now he should send it to Gurukul for education. He sent the child to study in the gurukul of the demons. After reaching there, Prahlada saw that instead of the idol of God in Gurukul, all his father's idol are worshiping as God. He was wondering why these people are considering my father as God, he told all the students present in the Gurukul that you do not even know that they are my father whom you are worshiping as God. The truth is that it is not a god, God is just Vishnu. He is the follower of all. Therefore, I do not consider him to be God. Even after being persuaded by the Gurus, he refused to believe that his father was God. As soon as Hiranyakashipu came to know about this, he was furious.
He decided to inflict death penalty on the child, but upon Kayadhu crying a lot, he ordered his soldiers to leave him thirsty in the thick forest. But that boy was also feeling happy in the forest. Sitting under a tree, he was chanting the name Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya. There was no fear nor tension on his face. When his father saw that it was safe even in this dense forest, he ordered his soldiers to throw him down the mountain.
As soon as the soldiers threw the child from the mountain, Lord Vishnu himself came there and lifted it in his lap and then Prahlada survived. Now he called his sister Holika for his assistance. Holika had the boon of Agni Dev that Agni cannot harm her. Hiranyakashipu told his sister that you sit with Prahlad in the fire because fire cannot burn you and Prahlad will be consumed by burning in fire. Holika sat in the fire with Prahlad and that little boy sat in that blazing fire and started chanting 'Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah', there was so much power in his devotion that Holika got burnt in the fire due to the heat of her devotion and little Prahlad Survived again. Hiranyakashipu was very angry at his sister's death and he again made a plan to kill Prahlada. This time, he ignited the fire inside a pillar and made it completely red and then called Prahlada and said, "I see my Vishnu by clinging to this pillar and see how you survive this time." As Prahlad hides the pillar red with that fire, that pillar makes him absolutely
Sheetal seems cold and he clings to it again and starts chanting the same ॐ Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya Namah. Seeing this, Hiranyakashipu gets very angry and as soon as he proceeds to slaughter him with the sword, tearing that pillar, the Narasimha avatar of Lord Vishnu appears. And then take that sinful Hiranyakashipu on his lap and tear his stomach with his nails and kill him. In this way the wicked dies at the hands of God.
Lord Narasimha was still trembling with anger and started to move to kill everyone, his anger did not calm down even after Mata Lakshmi pleaded a million. Mother Lakshmi said to Prahlada, now you can only pacify their anger, son, if their anger is not pacified soon, the whole world will be destroyed. Then Prahlada started bowing before the Lord and pleaded that you came back in your beautiful form, I am very scared to see you in this form.
Hearing the call of his little devotee, the Lord returned to his beautiful form and embraced Prahlada by his neck. Prahlada grew up to be a very characterful and talented king. After his retirement, his son Virochan also became a very good and talented king.
Viraochan's son Bali also became a very character king after Indra was killed by deceit. Whenever it comes to any donor, King Bali is said to be the greatest donor. Once Lord Vishnu, in the form of Batuk, asked King Bali to donate three feet of land, knowing that he is Lord Vishnu, he did not hesitate to give alms and donated three feet of land to him.
Then God in one step measured the whole land and the Hades and the whole universe in the second step. He told Bali that in two steps, I measured the whole earth and sky, and now there is nothing left for the third step, so your word is false. Bali said my word will not be false Lord and he asked to keep his third step on his head. God placed the third step on his forehead. Pleased, he returned the kingdom of Bali to him.
The only lesson we learn from this story is never to persecute an innocent, always keep on walking the path of truth and goodness. Whether it is happiness or sadness, stay connected with God every moment because if you stay connected with God every moment, then God also always stays with his devotees and protects them.
