मार्ग शीर्ष मास की शुक्ल पक्ष एकादशी को मोक्षदा एकादशी कहा जाता है। इस दिन भगवान श्री कृष्ण के श्री मुख से पवित्र ग्रंथ श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता का जन्म हुआ था। सनातन संस्कृति में श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता अत्यन्त अनुकरणीय तथा पुज्य है।
यह पूरे विश्व का इकलौता ऐसा ग्रंथ है जिसकी जयंती मनाई जाती है, और जिसे हम गीता जयंती कहते हैं। यह समस्त वैदिक ग्रंथों का सार है और जिसका प्रवचन स्वयं भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने किया है।
गीता महात्म्य में कहा गया है कि इस ग्रंथ को जो भी निष्ठा पूर्वक पढ़ता है, उसके समस्त पूर्व दुष्कर्मों का पूरी तरह नाश हो जाता है। मोक्षदा एकादशी का ही वह पावन दिन है, जिस दिन श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता का उद्धरण इस पावन धरती पर हुआ।
जो भी मनुष्य इस पवित्र ग्रंथ में बताए गए सिद्धांतों को ग्रहण करते हैं , वे अपना जीवन पूर्ण बनाते हैं,और अपने जीवन की सारी समस्याओं का स्थाई हल भी पाते हैं।
विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार मोक्षदा एकादशी का व्रत वर्ष के अन्य तेईस एकादशी के रखने के बराबर है। इस एकादशी का पुण्य पितरों को अर्पित करने से उन्हें मोक्ष की प्राप्ति होती है।
ब्रह्मांड पुराण में मार्ग शीर्ष मास के शुक्ल पक्ष में आने वाली मोक्षदा एकादशी का महात्म्य भगवान श्री कृष्ण महाराज युधिष्ठिर को बताते हैं। एक बार युधिष्ठिर ने भगवान श्री कृष्ण से कहा कि हे भगवन आप तीनों लोकों के स्वामी,और सबको सुख देने वाले जगतपति हैं। मैं आपको नमस्कार करता हूं।
आप सबके हितैसी हैं, अतः मेरे संचय को दूर कर मुझे बताइए कि मार्ग शीर्ष एकादशी का क्या नाम है। उस दिन कौन से देवता का पूजन किया जाता है, और उसकी विधि क्या है, कृपया आप मुझे ये सब बताईए।
इसपर भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने कहा कि हे धर्मराज तुमने बड़ा ही उत्तम प्रश्न पूछा है, इसके सुनने से तुम्हारा यश पूरे संसार में फैलेगा। मार्ग शीर्ष शुक्ल एकादशी समस्त पापों को नाश करने वाली है, और इसका नाम मोक्षदा एकादशी है।
इस दिन दामोदर भगवान की धूप, दीप, नैवेद्य और तुलसी अर्पण करके भक्ति पूर्वक पूजा करनी चाहिए। इसकी कथा पुराणों में इस प्रकार से है, इसे ध्यान पूर्वक सुनो।
प्राचीन समय में वैष्णव निवासित रमणीय चंपक नगर में वैखानस महाराज राज्य करते थे। उनके राज्य में चारों वेदों के ज्ञाता ब्राह्मण रहा करते थे, और राजा अपनी प्रजा का पुत्रवत पालन किया करता था।
एक रात राजा को अपने स्वप्न में अपने पिता को नर्क की यातनाएं करने का दृश्य दिखा, इस प्रकार का स्वप्न देखकर राजा बहुत ही व्याकुल हो गया। वह बेचैनी से सुबह होने का इन्तजार करने लगा।
सुबह होते ही उसने ब्राह्मणों को बुलाकर उनसे अपने स्वप्न की बात बताई, उसने कहा कि हे ब्राह्मणों रात्रि को मैंने अपने पिता को नर्क की घोरतम यातना भोगते हुए देखा है, उन्होंने मुझसे कहा कि हे पुत्र मैं घोर नर्क यातना भोग रहा हूं और तुम यहां से मेरी मुक्ति कराओ।
जबसे मैंने अपने पिता के ये वचन सुने हैं, तब से मुझे चैन नहीं है। मुझे अब राज्य, सुख, घोड़े, हाथी, स्त्री, पुत्र कुछ भी सुखदायक नहीं लग रहे हैं, अब मैं कहां जाऊं और क्या करूं। कृपया आप लोग मुझे किसी प्रकार की पूजा, यज्ञ, दान, तप आदि कोई उपाय बताएं, जिससे कि मेरे पिता को नर्क की यातना से मुक्ति प्राप्त हो ।
यदि मैंने अपने पिता को नर्क की यातना से मुक्ति दिलाने का प्रयत्न नहीं किए, तो मेरा ये जीवन निरर्थक है। राजा के आंतरिक दुःख की पीड़ा को देखकर ब्राह्मणों ने आपस में विचार विमर्श किया और फिर एकमत होकर बोले कि हे राजन वर्तमान, भूत और भविष्य के ज्ञाता पर्वत नाम के मुनि यहां पर रहते हैं, जो यहां से अधिक दूर नहीं हैं।
आप अपने मन की व्यथा उनसे जाकर कहिए, वे अवश्य ही इसका कोई सरल उपाय आपको बता देंगे। तब ब्राह्मणों की बात मानकर राजा पर्वत मुनि के आश्रम में गए। आश्रम में अनेक ऋषि, मुनि शांत चित्त होकर तपस्या कर रहे थे।
चारों वेदों के ज्ञाता पर्वत मुनि दूसरे ब्रह्मा के समान बैठे जान पर रहे थे, राजा ने उन्हें दंडवत प्रणाम करके उन्हें अपना परिचय दिया। पर्वत मुनि ने राजा से कुशल समाचार पूछा तब राजा ने कहा कि हे मुनिवर आपकी कृपा से मेरे राज्य में सब कुशल है, परंतु मेरे समक्ष अकस्मात एक ऐसी समस्या आ खड़ी हुई है, जिससे मेरा हृदय बड़ा ही व्यथित हो रहा है।
राजा ने मुनि को व्यथित हृदय से रात में देखे हुए स्वप्न के बारे में पूरी बात बताई, और फिर उनसे पूछा कि हे मुनिवर ऐसे में मुझे क्या करना चाहिए, कृपया आप मेरा मार्गदर्शन करें। कैसे मैं अपने पिता को नर्क की यातना से मुक्ति दिलाऊं।
तब राजा की बात पर्वत मुनि ने गंभीरता पूर्वक सुनि,फिर नेत्र बंद कर भूत और भविष्य पर विचार करने लगे। कुछ देर गंभीरता पूर्वक विचार करने पर उन्होंने राजा से कहा कि, हे राजन मैंने अपने योग बल के द्वारा तुम्हारे पिता के सभी कुकर्मों का ज्ञान प्राप्त कर लिया है।
तुम्हारे पिता ने पूर्व जन्म में अपनी पत्नियों में भेदभाव किया था, और उसी पाप कर्म की वजह से तुम्हारे पिता नर्क में गए हैं। ऋषि की यह बात सुनकर राजा ने कहा कि हे ऋषिवर कृपा करके आप मुझे मेरे पिता के नर्क से मुक्ति दिलाने का कोई उपाय बताएं।
तब पर्वत मुनि ने कहा कि हे राजन मार्ग शीर्ष मास के शुक्ल पक्ष में जो एकादशी आती है उसे मोक्षदा एकादशी कहते हैं , यह मोक्ष प्रदान करने वाली एकादशी है। आप मोक्षदा एकादशी व्रत को श्रद्धा पूर्वक करें, और संकल्प लेकर उसके पुण्य फल को अपने पिता को अर्पित करें। एकादशी के पुण्य प्रभाव से अवश्य ही आपके पिता को नर्क से मुक्ति मिलेगी।
पर्वत मुनि के वचन को सुनकर राजा अपने राज्य को लौट आए,और परिवार सहित मोक्षदा एकादशी व्रत को नियमपूर्वक किया, और उसके पुण्य को संकल्प लेकर अपने पिता को अर्पित कर दिया। इस एकादशी व्रत के पुण्य के प्रभाव से राजा के पिता को सहज ही नर्क से मुक्ति मिल गई।
स्वर्ग को प्रस्थान करते हुए राजा के पिता ने राजा से कहा कि हे पुत्र तेरा कल्याण हो, और इतना कहकर राजा के पिता ने स्वर्ग को प्रस्थान किया। भगवान श्री कृष्ण ने कहा कि हे युधिष्ठिर जो मनुष्य मार्ग शीर्ष मास के शुक्ल पक्ष एकादशी का व्रत करते हैं उनके सभी पाप नष्ट हो जाते हैं , और अंत में वे स्वर्ग लोक को प्राप्त होते हैं।
इस व्रत से उत्तम मोक्ष प्राप्त कराने वाला और कोई उपवास नहीं है। यह उपवास करने वालों की सभी मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होती हैं। प्रत्येक मनुष्य की यह इक्षा होती है कि मरने के बाद उसे मोक्ष की प्राप्ति हो, अतः मोक्ष प्राप्त करने के लिए सभी को मोक्षदा एकादशी को अवश्य करना चाहिए।
भगवान श्री विष्णु की प्रसन्नता के लिए सभी को इस एकादशी के व्रत को श्रद्धा पूर्वक करना चाहिए। इस दिन अधिक से अधिक हरे कृष्ण हरे कृष्ण कृष्ण कृष्ण हरे हरे हरे राम हरे राम राम राम हरे हरे इस महामंत्र का जप करें, भगवान श्री कृष्ण की सुंदर लीलाओं का श्रवण करें और भागवतम् तथा भगवद्गीता का पठन करें।
Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of Marg Shirsha month is called Mokshada Ekadashi. On this day the holy Srimad Bhagavad Gita was born from the mouth of Lord Krishna. Shrimad Bhagwad Gita is very exemplary and worshipable in Sanatan culture.
This is the only book in the whole world whose birth anniversary is celebrated, and which we call Geeta Jayanti. This is the essence of all Vedic scriptures and has been preached by Lord Shri Krishna himself.
It is said in the Gita Mahatmya that whoever reads this book with devotion, all his past misdeeds are completely destroyed. Mokshada Ekadashi is the auspicious day on which Shrimad Bhagwad Gita was recited on this holy land.
Whoever accepts the principles mentioned in this holy book, they make their life complete, and also get permanent solution to all the problems of their life.
According to Vishnu Purana, fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi is equal to observing other twenty three Ekadashi of the year. By offering the virtues of this Ekadashi to the ancestors, they attain salvation.
In Brahmanda Purana, Lord Shri Krishna explains the greatness of Mokshada Ekadashi to Maharaj Yudhishthira, which falls in the Shukla Paksha of the month of Marg Shirsha. Once Yudhishthira said to Lord Shri Krishna that O Lord, you are the master of all the three worlds and the giver of happiness to all. I salute you
You are everyone's well wisher, so remove my accumulation and tell me what is the name of Marg Shirsha Ekadashi. Which deity is worshiped on that day, and what is its method, please tell me all this.
On this, Lord Shri Krishna said that O Dharmaraj, you have asked a very good question, your fame will spread all over the world by listening to it. Marg Shirsha Shukla Ekadashi is the destroyer of all sins, and its name is Mokshada Ekadashi.
On this day Lord Damodar should be worshiped with devotion by offering incense, lamp, naivedya and basil. Its story is in this way in Puranas, listen to it carefully.
In ancient times, Vaikhanas Maharaj used to rule in the delightful Champak city inhabited by Vaishnavas. In his kingdom, brahmins who knew all the four Vedas used to live, and the king used to follow his subjects like a son.
One night the king saw in his dream a scene of his father being tortured in hell, the king was very distraught after seeing such a dream. He anxiously waited for morning.
As soon as the morning came, he called the Brahmins and told them about his dream, he said that O Brahmins, at night I have seen my father suffering from the worst torture of hell, he told me that O son, I am suffering from hell and you are here. Get rid of me
Ever since I heard these words of my father, I am not at peace. Now I do not find kingdom, happiness, horses, elephant, woman, son anything soothing, now where should I go and what should I do. Please tell me any kind of worship, sacrifice, donation, penance etc., so that my father can get freedom from the torture of hell.
If I do not try to save my father from the torture of hell, then this life of mine is meaningless. Seeing the pain of the king's inner sorrow, the Brahmins discussed among themselves and then unanimously said that O king, the knower of present, past and future, a sage named Parvat lives here, who is not far from here.
You go to him and tell him the pain of your mind, he will definitely tell you some simple solution for it. Then after listening to the brahmins, the king went to Parvat Muni's hermitage. Many sages and sages were doing penance in the ashram with a calm mind.
Parvat Muni, the knower of all the four Vedas, was sitting on his life like another Brahma, the king bowed down to him and introduced himself to him. Parvat Muni asked the king about good news, then the king said that O Munivar, by your grace, everything is fine in my kingdom, but suddenly such a problem has arisen in front of me, due to which my heart is very distressed.
The king told the sage the whole thing about the dream he saw in the night with a distressed heart, and then asked him what should I do, O sage, please guide me. How can I free my father from the torture of hell.
Then Parvat Muni listened seriously to the king, then closed his eyes and started thinking about the past and future. After thinking seriously for some time, he told the king that, O king, I have gained the knowledge of all your father's misdeeds by my yoga power.
Your father discriminated against his wives in his previous birth, and because of that sin, your father has gone to hell. Hearing these words of the sage, the king said, O sage, please tell me some way to get rid of my father from hell.
Then Parvat Muni said that O Rajan Marg, the Ekadashi that falls in the Shukla Paksha of the top month is called Mokshada Ekadashi, it is the Ekadashi that gives salvation. You should observe Mokshada Ekadashi fast with devotion, and take a resolution and offer its virtuous fruit to your father. With the virtuous effect of Ekadashi, your father will definitely get freedom from hell.
After listening to Parvat Muni's words, the king returned to his kingdom, and along with his family, performed the Mokshada Ekadashi fast regularly, and took a vow of virtue and offered it to his father. Due to the virtue of this Ekadashi fast, the king's father easily got freedom from hell.
While leaving for heaven, the king's father said to the king that may you be well, O son, and saying this, the king's father left for heaven. Lord Shri Krishna said that O Yudhishthira, those who fast on the Shukla Paksha Ekadashi of the month of Manish Marg, all their sins are destroyed, and in the end they attain heaven.
There is no other fast that can get better salvation than this fast. All the wishes of those who observe this fast are fulfilled. Every human being has the desire to attain salvation after death, so to attain salvation, everyone must perform Mokshada Ekadashi.
For the happiness of Lord Shri Vishnu, everyone should observe this Ekadashi fast with devotion. Chant this great mantra Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare more and more on this day, and listen to the pastimes of Lord Shri Krishna.
