कल यानि 20 जनवरी 2021को जो बाइडेन ने अमेरिका के 46वें राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए शपथ ग्रहण किया। उनका पूरा नाम जोसेफ रॉबिनेट बाइडेन जूनियर है। उनका जन्म 20 नवंबर 1942 स्क्रेंटन, पेंसिल्वेनिया संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में हुआ था।
जो बाइडेन 78 वर्ष के सबसे ज्यादा उम्रदराज अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति चुने गए। उन्हें देखकर ऐसा लग ही नहीं रहा था कि वो 78साल के हैं। उनकी चाल और उनका दृढ़ संकल्प हम सबको बहुत कुछ सीख देती हैं।
उनके भाषण में उन्होंने बताया कि कैसे वो बार बार टूटे बार बार हारे लेकिन उन्होंने अपने आपको कभी मन से हारने और टूटने नहीं दिया।
उन्होंने बताया कि कैसे एक कार एक्सिडेंट में उनकी पत्नी और बेटी की मौत हो गई, और कैंसर से पीड़ित होने के कारण उनके बेटे की भी मौत हो गई। उस वक्त ये सब बताते हुए उनकी आंखें नम हो गईं थीं। उन्होंने बताया कि कैसी भी विषम परिस्थितियां आने पर भी मैंने अपने आपको कभी टूटने नहीं दिया।
अमेरिका के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति बराक ओबामा के कार्यकाल के दौरान जो बाइडेन 8 साल तक अमेरिका के उपराष्ट्रपति के पद पर कार्यरत रहे। उन्होंने अपने भाषण में कहा कि वे 1980 से लगातार राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए बार बार चुनाव लड़ते आ रहे थे और आखिरकार 78 साल के उम्र में उन्होंने अपना ये अमेरिका के राष्ट्रपति बनने का सपना पूरा कर ही लिया।
उनके जीवन से हमें ये प्रेरणा मिलती है कि अगर सच्चे मन, सच्ची लगन और दृढ़ संकल्प लेकर अगर हम लगे रहें तो कुछ भी असंभव नहीं है। उम्र कोई मायने नहीं रखता है किसी भी उम्र में कोई भी अपने सपने को पूरा कर सकते हैं। 2020 में कोरोना वायरस के प्रकोप से अमेरिका में चार लाख लोगों की मौत हो गई। जो बाइडेन ने अपने भाषण के दौरान उन चार लाख लोगों को भी श्रद्धांजलि दी जिन्होंने कोरोना की वजह से अपनी जान गवाई।
कमला हैरिस अमेरिका की पहली महिला उपराष्ट्रपति चुनी गई। कमला हैरिस अमेरिका की पहली अश्वेत महिला हैं जिन्होंने अमेरिकी उपराष्ट्रपति पद का कार्य भार संभालकर अमेरिका ही नहीं बल्कि भारत का भी नाम रौशन किया। कमला हैरिस भारतीय हैं,दरअसल कमला हैरिस की मां तमिलनाडु की रहने वाली थी और उनके पिता जमैका में रहते थे। उनकी मां का नाम श्यामला गोपालन और पिता का नाम डोनाल्ड हैरिस था। कल जब वो बतौर उपराष्ट्रपति पद की सपथ ले रही थी उस समय उनके गांव तमिलनाडु में सभी लोग खुश होकर चारों तरफ दिया प्रज्वलित कर उत्सव मना रहे थे, ऐसा लग रहा था जैसे दिवाली हो।
इस मौके पर उनके सम्मान में अमेरिकी पॉप स्टार लेडी गागा ने राष्ट्रगान गाया।
