एतन्मे संशयं कृष्ण छेत्तुमर्हस्यशेषत: ।त्वदन्य: संशयस्यास्य छेत्ता न ह्युपपद्यते।।39।।
अनुवाद श्रील प्रभुपाद के द्वारा : हे कृष्ण! यही मेरा सन्देह है, और मैं आपसे इसे पूर्णतया दूर करने की प्रार्थना कर रहा हूं। आपके अतिरिक्त अन्य कोई ऐसा नहीं है, जो इस संदेह को नष्ट कर सके।
तात्पर्य : कृष्ण भूत, वर्तमान तथा भविष्य के जानने वाले हैं। भगवद्गीता के प्रारंभ में भगवान ने कहा है कि सारे जीव व्यष्टि रूप में भूतकाल में विद्यमान थे,इस समय विद्यमान हैं और भवबंधन से मुक्त होने पर भविष्य में भी व्यष्टि रूप में बने रहेंगे।
इस प्रकार उन्होंने व्यष्टि जीव के भविष्य विषयक प्रश्न का स्पष्टीकरण कर दिया है।अब अर्जुन असफल योगियों के भविष्य के विषय में जानना चाहता है। कोई न तो कृष्ण के समान है,न ही उनसे बड़ा।
तथाकथित बड़े बड़े ऋषि तथा दार्शनिक, जो प्रकृति की कृपा पर निर्भर हैं, निश्चय ही उनकी समता नहीं कर सकते। अतः समस्त संदेहों का पूरा पूरा उत्तर पाने के लिए कृष्ण का निर्णय अंतिम तथा पूर्ण है क्योंकि वे भूत, वर्तमान तथा भविष्य के ज्ञाता हैं, किंतु उन्हें कोई भी नहीं जानता। कृष्ण तथा कृष्णभावनाभावित व्यक्ति ही जान सकते हैं कि कौन क्या है।
श्रीमद्भगवद्गीता के इस श्लोक से हमें यह समझना होगा कि कृष्ण ही भूत, वर्तमान और भविष्य हैं। भगवान ने भगवद्गीता के प्रारंभ में ही कहा है कि सारे जीव सूक्ष्म रूप में भूतकाल में विद्यमान थे,इस समय विद्यमान हैं और इस भौतिक शरीर को त्यागने के बाद भी सूक्ष्म रूप में स्थित रहेंगे।
अब अर्जुन असफल योगियों अर्थात जो लोग भगवान की भक्ति में आये तो, लेकिन अगर किसी कारणवश भक्ति में उनका पतन हो गया हो तो अर्जुन यहां उनके भविष्य के विषय में जानना चाहता है। भगवद्गीता में भगवान ने साफ साफ कहा है कि कोई न तो कृष्ण के समान है और न ही उनसे बड़ा।
अतः सभी प्रश्नों का पूरा पूरा उत्तर पाने के लिए कृष्ण का निर्णय अंतिम तथा पूर्ण है, क्योंकि वे ही भूत, वर्तमान तथा भविष्य के ज्ञाता हैं, किंतु उन्हें कोई भी नहीं जानता। केवल कृष्ण तथा कृष्णभावनाभावित व्यक्ति ही जान सकते हैं कि कौन क्या है?
Etanme sanshayam Krishna chettumarhasysheshatah
Tvadanya: sanshayasyasya chetta na hyuppadyate. 39.
Translation by Srila Prabhupada: O Krishna! This is ubt, and I pray to You to dispel it completely. There is no one other than You who can destroy this doubt.
Purpose: Krishna is the knower of the past, present, and future. At the beginning of the Bhagavad Gita, the Lord states that all living beings existed as individuals in the past, exist now, and will continue to exist as individuals in the future after being liberated from material bondage.
Thus, He has clarified the question regarding the future of individual living beings. Now, Arjuna wants to know about the future of unsuccessful yogis. No one is equal to Krishna, nor greater than Him.
The so-called great sages and philosophers, who depend on the grace of nature, certainly cannot match Him. Therefore, to fully answer all doubts, Krishna's decision is final and absolute because He is the knower of the past, present, and future, but no one knows Him. Only Krishna and Krishna conscious beings can know who is who.
From this verse of the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, we must understand that Krishna is the past, present, and future. At the very beginning of the Bhagavad Gita, the Lord states that all living beings existed in subtle form in the past, exist in the present, and will remain in subtle form even after leaving this physical body.
Now Arjuna wants to know about the future of unsuccessful yogis i.e. those who came in the devotion of God but if for some reason they have fallen in devotion, then Arjuna wants to know about their future. In Bhagavad Gita, God has clearly said that no one is equal to Krishna nor greater than him.
So to get complete answer to all the questions, Krishna's decision is final and absolute because only he is the knower of past, present and future, but no one knows him. Only Krishna and Krishna conscious people can know who is what?
